Havelock Island is the most sought after island situated around 39 kms from Port Blair. This picturesque Island hosts two of the world’s most renowned beaches; Vijaynagar Beach and Radhanagar Beach. Adventure seekers from around the world flock to the Havelock Islands for adventure activities like scuba & snorkeling. Havelock is loved by people of all age groups & different interests.

Reaching Havelock Island

It takes around 2 hours via Ferry to reach Havelock Island Port Blair. Ferries are run by both – Private operators and Government. For a hassle and stress free experience one should consider taking Private Cruise.

Private Ferry Operators – There are couple of private ferry operators from Port Blair to Havelock Island- M.V. Makaruzz, Coastal Cruise, Green Ocean. The ride is comfortable, and the charges may vary depending upon the seat type.

Getting around at in Havelock Island is simple. The villages have their own beaches, those beaches have numbers assigned to their names, and the roads are set straight without any traffic. ​

Sightseeing places at Havelock Island

Radhanagar Beach (Beach No:7)

Radhanagar is quite popular for its long white sandy beach that sprawls across 2 km length and has an average width of 30 to 40 mtrs. There are no water sports at this beach but it lovely white sand backed by a thick forest over looking turquoise water is known to be one of the best places for sunbathing and swimming.
Rated as Asia's best beach and among top 10 beaches in the world by Time Magazine. Sunset is a particularly beautiful time to be there.

Neil’s Cove Beach

Neil Cove is located to the northwest of Radhanagar beach. The e water here is usually calm and amazingly clear, great for Snorkeling. The best time is between low and high tides. Swimming is prohibited at dusk and dawn and it is best to pay attention to any warnings about saltwater crocodiles.

Vijaynagar Beach (Beach No: 5)

Vijaynagar beach is fringed with the tall Mahua trees, stretching towards the east coast of the island. Most of the hotel and resorts are lined along the beach. The waters around the beach are quite shallow and with coral patches. Not ideal for swimming or other water sport activities.

Elephant Beach

Elephant Beach is the amongst the most popular beaches in Havelock Island for day trips. An ideal site for snorkeling, it has a rich coral reef formations, one of the best on the island with the reef being close to the shore, making this an excellent spot for snorkeling. The beach is famous for water sports activities like jet-ski, Banana Ride, Sofa Ride scuba diving and underwater sea walk. Glass bottom boats are available to watch the coral reefs through these boats.
Elephant Beach can be reached by small cruise boat from Havelock Jetty in about 30 minutes. By road one can go up to the Forest Camp which is 8 km from the Jetty towards Radhanagar Beach and from there one has to trek 2 km through a dense forest, well marked trail to reach the Elephant Beach.

Kalapathar Beach

Kalapathar Beach gets its name from the surrounding Kalapathar Village and the black rocks that adorn its coastline. This beach is small but the way to beach is beautiful. One can get the mesmerizing views of sunset from this beach, however the beach is not recommended for swimming. As the beach is not so crowded, couples can enjoy a romantic walk and families can spend some peaceful moments.

Bird Watching

218 species of birds are found in Andaman and NIcobar Islands and many of them can be spotted in Havelock Islands. Its rain forest is full of their calls especially early in the morning. Drongos, Kingfishers, parrots & Myna are to name a few. The best places to see birds are along the edge of the beaches, in the rain forest, on the way to Elephant beach in the rain forest and the lagoon.

Havelock Island is a popular spot for Andaman Adventure activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, trekking, Sea walking, Game Fishing island camping, kayaking, sailing, etc.

Cycling at Havelock Island​
Havelock Island is indeed the best cycling destinations in Andamans. The lush greenery of the island is the perfect place for enjoying cycling.  You can take bicycles on rent at an economical rent and ride the island especially early in the morning when you can also appreciate the best sunrise!​
